These are public workshops and paid membership of the PACC is not required, although we will require you to register your name and an email address which will be requested along with a username and password. PACC members may use their current PACC username. Your name and email address will be passed to the tutor to forward joining instructions for the course. 6 Week ‘Introduction to Ceramics’ Summer Class

This welcoming, inclusive course is aimed at those with no pottery experience and will not be suitable for those who have done pottery before. Learners will be encouraged to follow their own creative instincts and can choose whether to hand-build or throw on the wheel, or do a combination of both.
Each week, the tutor will demonstrate the creation of forms covering a range wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques across the 6-week block, as well as refining forms and various decorating methods. Learners will be free to choose whether to practise the demonstrated technique, or follow their own creative ideas or projects.

This intensive pottery course is run over two full days to immerse potters no experience in the world of ceramics and introduce them to fundamental pottery skills. The workshop will not be suitable for those with previous pottery experience.
You will be instructed in a range of pottery techniques including wheel-throwing, hand-building through pinching and coiling, trimming leather-hard clay, making and attaching handles, altering forms and decorating using slips and underglazes.
