Beginners Pottery Workshop

Intensive 2 day course with Rebecca Philipson

Sundays 24th and 31st August. 10.00am – 4.00pm

£110

This intensive pottery course is run over two full days to immerse new potters in the world of ceramics and introduce them to fundamental pottery skills. This course is aimed at beginners and is not suitable for anyone with previous pottery experience.

You will be instructed in a range of pottery techniques including wheel-throwing, hand-building through pinching and coiling, trimming leather-hard clay, making and attaching handles, altering forms and decorating using slips and underglazes.

The aim of this course is to give beginner potters a satisfying, hands-on introduction to working with clay in a supportive, welcoming environment. By the end of the two day course, you will have produced between 3-5 pieces decorated with slip and/or underglaze. These will then be fired, clear glazed by the instructor (which makes the pieces food-safe), and ready to be collected at a later date.

Materials will be provided and are included in the cost of the course. Please bring your own lunch and drinks. Please note, pottery is messy – wear old clothes, tie up long hair and ensure nails are cut short.
