Painting Outdoors Workshop with Plein Air Artist Iona Molleson
Sat 17th May 10am to 4pm based in Studio 3 at Poldrate
This painting workshop is for those who are curious about plein air painting and are keen to give it a try or develop their own painting skills further in this way. By exploring the fun and challenges painting outdoors brings in a supportive session, led by plein air painter Iona Molleson, participants will discover the rewards of painting on location and will hopefully feel equiped to get outdoors to sketch or paint more often with their own field easel and paints.

This workshop will take place along the River Tyne, within 10 minute walking distance of Poldrate Arts and Crafts Centre but will begin and end in Studio 3 of PACC. Demonstrations will be provided at the start and tuition throughout the day as your plein air painting/s develop.

Students will need to bring their own materials/equipment in a small rucksack and a folding chair or stool plus a packed lunch/bottled water. Tea and coffee making is provided in the Studio.

List of Matetials and Equipment to bring on the day.

Small sketchbook and sketching material such as a pencil or charcoal.

Field Easel or Box Easel-otherwise you can sit and hold your canvas.

Primed Canvas, Gessoed Primed Board or Canvas Board-ideally a few sizes to choose from

Set of either acrylic or oil paint tubes- at a minimum- titanium white and the primary colours of cadmium yellow, cadmium red, cobalt blue as well as burnt sienna or transparent red oxide (if using oil) for ground colours will do. Below is a list of colours I use outdoors.
